The Great Gatsby - F Scott Fitzgerald      5/5*
Okay I doubt I can review this as well as others so yeah;
This book is set just after the First World War and clearly shows the American Dream at it’s worst. The story is narrated by Nick who tells of how he met Gatsby and then the downfall of the image of the world he has come into.
The people he meets are selfish and very shallow and every character except Nick is like that - they flaunt their wealth with lush parties and fancy clothes but as Nick learns - Gatsby doesn’t have any friends. The book is tragic and as much as I like Daisy the only character I truly like is Nick. The writing is amazing and the opening and closing paragraphs are just. Wow.
I do recommend everyone read this book - especially Americans. Because its like American.
